Dear Homo Sapiens, There is no need to continue reading this page. What follows is intended for search engine robots and spiders and not necessarily for human beings. Further information about motor-sailing gulet chartering in Greece and Turkey may be obtained by clicking on the gray links immediately above. Thank You. You must be searching for a gulet chartering Greece or Turkey. There is really no other way to find this web page. Unless you speak Turkish, of course, and are searching for an exalted or noble individual! Yüce Bey! Pronounced Yerjay Bay! As you probably do not speak Turkish you are probably thinking of a motor-sailing gulet holiday along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts of Turkey. Or, just as probably, of a gulet sailing from off-the-beaten-track Aegean island of Greece to off-the-beaten-track Aegean island of Greece. Or you may simply be dreaming of basking under a gentle sun while floating on an azure sea. You may even be considering a visit to the crossroads of history. Or all of the above. How about doing some or all of the above aboard a crewed charter gulet with accommodations for ten. And, by the way, Yüce Bey has a sister yacht also with five guest cabins, Yüce Bey 1. Gulets maintained as if new by their crews of five. You might charter such a crewed motor-sailing gulet to cruise that part of the Turkish coast which was ancient Pamphylia. Or you might sail the sixteenth century corsair tracks of Kurtoglu Muslihiddin Reis along the coast of Turkey and among Aegean islands of Greece then ruled by Venetians or other Latin Christians. Hunting for Venetian prey and on the lookout for Christian Gulet Chartering Greecewarships. Known in the west as Curtogoli or Cadoli Reis, this corsair's first appearance in history came in March 1504. Then a 17 year-old protege of Prince Korkut, son of Sultan Beyazit II and Governor of Antalya province, Kurtoglu had captives (already! at age 17!) parked at Manisa whom Korkut offered in swap to the Hospitaller Knights of Rhodes. Four years later at the age of 21 Kurtoglu found haven on Africa's Barbary Coast in command of 30 ships and 6,000 men. That year he put the Ligurian coast either side of Genoa to fire and sword. Brought back to the eastern Mediterranean in 1509 he escorted Korkut from Antalya to Alexandria where the prince sought Mamluk Egyptian support in his unsuccessful struggle for Ottoman succession. Returning Korkut to Antalya in 1510, Kurtoglu (in Turkish meaning son of wolf) successfully evaded a Hospitaller galley squadron waiting in ambush. That same year he was found savaging Venetian islands in the Aegean, including Andros, Negroponte, Skyros, and Chios. So should you wish to cruise in the wake of this sea wolf, there are a lot of wakes from which to choose. And you can do this while basking under a gentle sun on an azure sea. You can do this while having an extended-family holiday aboard a crewed motor-sailing gulet cruising the Aegean islands of Greece and the cove-indented and white-sand beach punctuated Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Perhaps with children in your gulet classroom at the crossroads of history. Or you can do this while having a group of friends holiday with you aboard a charter gulet proceeding leisurely from here to there. Or from there to here. While you charter a crewed gulet to cruise the near Dodecanese in order to reach the far Cyclades. Starting in Turkey. Starting in Marmaris or Antalya. Are you searching for Antalya in Turkey? For ancient Pamphylia? Well, with its own international airport Antalya is at the head of its own gulf in the center of Turkey's south coast. Ancient Pamphylia. Home to Roman Aspendos. And to Roman Perge. And to Roman Side. Each with massive theaters still standing today. One or more having welcomed Pompey the Great, Julius Caesar, Marc Antony, Cleopatra VII Philopator, and Cleopatra Julia Zenobia of Palmyra, among many other of the exalted or noble. And each with much more for visitors interested in the crossroads of history. Alternatively you might prefer to begin your cruise in Greek Rhodes Town which also has its own international airport. It was at Rhodes Town that Kurtoglu in 1522 commanded the Ottoman fleet of more than 200 warships and transports attending Sultan Suleiman's six-month siege of the Hospitaller Knights inside those stout walls still encircling the old town today. And it was Kurtoglu who brought Suleiman and upward of 100,000 janissaries, spahis, and bashi-bazouks to Rhodes, not to mention 60,000 sappers to bring down the walls depicted at upper left behind janissaries. Once the siege had ended in victory, Suleiman named 35 year old Kurtoglu sanjak bey or governor of his new dominion at Rhodes. Yes, Muslihiddin Kurtoglu Reis was then a yuce bey! There is much more (click here) to the saga of Kurtoglu Reis, much much more (and click here). Antalya or Rhodes Town or elsewhere we can put you aboard a motor-sailing gulet for the holiday of a lifetime. We can put you aboard a motor-sailing gulet with an experienced crew able to show you the entire coast of Turkey, including Cape Kurtoglu 30 nautical miles ENE of Rhodes Town, able to show you the entire Aegean of Greece, and able to tell you the remaining history of Kurtoglu Muslihiddin Reis. Come aboard Yüce Bey, a handsome gulet chartering Greece and Turkey in exquisite comfort. Contact Blue Cruise Yacht Charters today at blcryacht@aol.com
