Thank You. You must be searching for a charter yacht holiday sailing the Adriatic,
for a charter yacht sailing the Adriatic coasts of Croatia and Montenegro. After all, almost no one
sails the Adriatic coasts of Italy and Albania. Could you be dreaming of an excursion from medieval
Dubrovnik north to Ston where oysters and clams abound? By way of Lopud and Sipan, two islands each
with a handful of residents and each with a select seafood dining establishment? An excursion
continuing from Ston to medieval Korcula? By way of Mljet? And from Korcula depicted above between
data panes to Hvar depicted just below Korcula? And from Hvar to medieval Trogir? By way of Palmezana?
Or could you be dreaming of a cruise south from Dubrovnik to Cavtat, ancient Epidaurus, and then to
medieval Hercegnovi in the Gulf of Kotor?
Hercegnovi was in 1539 known as Castelnuovo and, until the
arrival of Kheir-ed-Din Barbarossa that summer, supported a Spanish garrison. And continuing from
Hercegnovi to Perast with its two offshore islets one of which supports the Benedictine Abbey of St.
George, a fort when Horatio Nelson was pursuing Bonaparte's flotillas, the other islet a reef onto
which were sunk captured pirate hulls? And from Perast to Kotor Town? Whichever, north or south from
Dubrovnik, either direction takes you to scenically fascinating locales bordering deep blue sea under
a warm sun. This is sea once dominated by large two-masted argosies of Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik in the
middle ages when it was known as Ragusa, a maritime city state. Argosy is a word with which you might
be familiar, but it is not a word derived from Jason's Argo, the galley used in his quest for the
Golden Fleece. That was a quest through the Black Sea. This is the Adriatic, and the word argosy is
rather derived from an Italian word ragusea, meaning Ragusan vessel, "an argosy
bound to Tripolis, another to the Indies, a third to Mexico, a fourth to England." (Shakespeare's
Merchant of Venice) How about it! Would you like to cruise Adriatic Croatia and Montenegro,
sail the Dalmatian coast, dine on lobster pasta, or on little fish fried in garlic? At or between
pauses for a swim or a stroll through history? Well, how about doing it aboard a crewed charter yacht
with accommodations for twelve or more guests. Nostalgija, sailing in the wake of Kheir-ed-Din
Barbarossa, that sixteenth century corsair from the Greek island of Lesbos who rose to become Sultan
Suleiman's Lord High Admiral of the Ottoman Navy. And sailing in the wake of Piali Pasha, Croatian by
birth, who also rose to become Suleiman's Lord High Admiral. Yes, do come. Come
holiday with a group of friends aboard a charter yacht cruising Adriatic Croatia and Montenegro,
cruising leisurely from one picturesque and historically fascinating Adriatic locale to another.
