Are you searching for a luxury yacht sailing Turkey? For a luxury gulet charter sailing Turkey? Because you are considering a Blue Cruise along Turkey's Turquoise Coast? Is it your wish to charter sail in Turkey from one pine-fringed cove to the next pine-fringed cove? From one picturesque seaside town with bazaar to the next picturesque seaside town with bazaar? From ancient Telmessos to ancient Andriake? Following Alexander's Path along the coast of Classical Lycia? From Andriake to Telmessos tracing Saint Paul's several voyages along this coast? Or tracing Cleopatra's two voyages around Lycia? Are you searching for even more history? While you holiday? While you have a family holiday aboard a crewed sailing yacht cruising just as did Cleopatra on her galley honeymoon with Marc Antony? Among other places visited, Cleopatra paused at the same Andriake, the seaport for neighboring Myra. There Antony levied taxes, re-provisioned, embarked local legions, and conscripted oarsmen for an ever-expanding fleet of war galleys and support ships. He did the same forty miles further up the coast at Patara, and again at Telmessos, modern Fethiye, another forty miles along his route to Actium and his confrontation with Octavian. Would you like to have a family holiday sailing this route? Antony and Cleopatra's route? Enjoying the swimming pleasure they enjoyed? Would you like Luxury Yacht Charter Turkeyto discover other attractions that caused them to tarry more than a year en route? Try Kayhan 12, a graceful 115-foot oak-framed, teak-planked, and teak-decked ketch laid up and launched in the same Fethiye. Kayhan 12 can take you to most of the stops along Antony's route. Antony and Cleopatra aside, Kayhan 12 is also familiar with numerous coves which five hundred years ago sheltered the swift fusta's (small open lateen-rigged galliots as at left) of Bostan Reis as he preyed on Christian shipping between the Levant and Crete. Also known as "Sultan," perhaps because of his several run-ins with Suleiman The Magnificent, Sultan of Sultans, Bostan Reis had earlier made his name in the Aegean and Adriatic raiding possessions of the Serene Republic of Venice. At the time, though, the early-1520's, Venice was at peace with Suleiman's Ottoman Empire, and the Republic's ambassador to the Porte was vociferous in making the Republic's irritation known. Recalled to Constantinople in the summer of 1525 to explain his actions, Bostan paused along the way to raid the large island of Negroponte, modern Evvoia. Negroponte, of course, was Venetian at the time, and the "Sultan's" conduct was too much for Suleiman. Bostan was clapped in prison on the Bosphorus. Released on bond a month later, however, Bostan took himself and his thirteen fustas to Telmessos and the Lycian coast running southeast from Telmessos. Sailing from Telmessos and Kekova Roads near Andriake in early 1526, Bostan reneged on his bond and intercepted every Venetian vessel plying the route from Cyprus to Crete. For months he tweaked the Serene Republic's nose. Unfortunately for Bostan, he tweaked Suleiman's nose, as well. By summer he was back in prison on the Bosphorus. He never emerged. Come explore history aboard Kayhan 12, a luxury ketch plying waters plied by Alexander, Antony, Cleopatra, and Bostan Reis, among many others. Do all of this and more aboard a charter yacht with an experienced crew able to cater to your every wish, a superb crewed yacht available for charter sailing along the coast of Turkey.
